Ruiz is the Chief Knowledge Officer and Editor of Honest Food Talks. A food enthusiast at heart, Ruiz is passionate in pushing the boundaries of his palette, developing his culinary skills as well as uncovering the trade secrets of successful restauranteurs.
Growing up in mix-cultured heritage in Malaysia, and having lived in Japan for over 7 years, Ruiz has developed a deep appreciation for the Asian culinary world that continues to concoct new combinations of traditional flavours with modern techniques. However, when he moved to the UK, he was surprised by how little Western world was exposed to the wonders of Asian cuisine. Today, he has made it his mission to share those wonders with the rest of the world!
Before Honest Food Talks, Ruiz was a Product-Ops-Finance trifecta manager of several startups working on novelty tech. Today, he combines skill and passion to the craft of discovering and sharing about Asian food novelties.
His favourite food in the world is Malaysian Nasi Lemak, and he is appalled when people keep miscalling his favourite drink, Masala Chai (don’t call it chai tea!). When these are not on the menu, Ruiz is an adventurous foodie who would try anything you put in front of him!
