There are plenty of eateries here that offer great coffee and an ideal ambience. From lattes and espressos to chai and teas, these cafes will satisfy any craving.
Yokohama is well-known for its western-inspired urban design. The city first opened its port for foreign trade during the Meiji period, leading many foreigners to settle down. Today, the harbour city remains a popular spot for many foreigners to live in, which can explain the demand for high-quality coffee in the area.
You'll find everything from cosy spaces to hipster spots to hang out with your friends or enjoy your alone time with a good book. With so much choice available, it can be hard to pick which one you should go to.
As locals living in the area, we decided to take it upon ourselves to find the best cafes in Yokohama.
To find these gems, we looked at three factors in our selection process. Whether the place had good coffee, comfortable and chic interior design and lastly, the delicious food or dessert options available.

cafe&dining blue terminal
If you want to take your friends for a meal or looking to impress your date with your knowledge of good cafes, this is one of the best cafes in Yokohama you can go to. Located in the Minato-Mirai area, well-known as a date spot and its chic shops, the cafe is the perfect place for lunch, dinner or simply for an afternoon coffee.

The cafe mainly serves pancakes and dishes with rice. A coffee stand is set at the entrance, allowing ferry terminal passengers to order their coffee for the go conveniently.
A popular lunch menu is their house burger, the Blue Terminal burger (ブルーターミナルバーガー). The burger comes with a stack of pork belly, a sunny side up fried egg, and fries on the side.

We liked this burger's juiciness, which comes mainly from its thickly sliced fatty pork belly. Secondly, the runny fried egg is placed on top to add on more dense and creaminess. Of course, you will have to use a given wet tissue after the meal, which you can imagine why!
Fries as a side come crisp and hot, and don't forget to try their yuzu-mayo dipping sauce, which is a perfect combination!

Coffee beans
In addition, dine-in guests can also order a coffee from the coffee stand directly. The shop uses Onibus coffee's beans. They offer options from hand-drip to espresso. Coffee lovers who are looking to explore different types of coffee should check out this place in Yokohama.
In terms of price, it is relatively average compared to other cafes in the area and is affordable. For the delicious variety of coffee beans as well as a sweeping view of the ocean, we'd put this on our list of the best cafes in Yokohama to visit any day.
Latte Graphic Tama-Plaza
Away from the city crowd of Yokohama, Latte Graphic Tama-plaza makes our list of the best cafes in Yokohama due to its ambience, great coffee, and food selection.
Located in a quiet residential area, approximately 5 min walk from Tama-plaza station.
The Australian inspired cafe is an all-day dining cafe that opens from breakfast till dinner. Different menus are provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner time, giving diners a new experience depending on the time of visit.
On the other hand, the selection of coffee is available whenever you visit. Using New Zealand bean and Allpress Espresso, the barista offers a good selection of coffee-based drinks. Coffee options go from regular cafe latte, decaf latte, and non-dairy milk cappuccino. There is hardly anything that they do not have on their coffee menu.
With such a variety of coffee and food, you may struggle with which one to get. Here are 2 set menu orders we have tried, which you may want to try yourself!
Lamingtonラミントン and black coffee
One of the best ways to enjoy good coffee is by having it in the simplest form. The classic hot black coffee gives out the purest aroma and bitterness from beans. Try it with a popular house dessert, Lamington!
The Australian sponge cake coated with white raspberry chocolate has a light sweetness with a crunchy texture from coconut toppings.
Sip on your hot coffee first before going in for the cake. The white chocolate melts easier in your mouth when you initially have a hot drink. We loved this modest combination of an afternoon dessert and coffee.
Smash avocado and cafe latte
Next, we would recommend the cafe latte set. Graphic Latte's in-house baristas believe that a good cafe latte or cappuccino comes not just from good beans but also from who makes it.
The cafe latte has foamy steam milk, and it mixed well with espresso. As for the taste, we thought this was more towards those who prefer more robust coffee since it uses double espresso.

As an accompanying dish, we ordered the smashed avocado (スマッシュアボカド). It comes with two toasts, one avocado toast and one toast topped with a poached egg. The avocado toast is not exactly smashed but instead comes with sliced avocado.
With the number of slices we see, it looks like they used the whole avocado. Each piece of avocado is gently placed next to the other, with crumbled nuts on top. This creamy avocado with a crusty hot toastie gives satisfaction to every bite.

Latte Graphic is also available in other places.
24/7 coffee&roaster Yokohama
If you happen to be near Yokohama station and wonder where you can find an excellent place to sit and rest for a cup of coffee, 24/7 coffee&roaster Yokohama is one of the best cafes in Yokohama you can visit.
Located in central Yokohama, 24/7 coffee&roaster Yokohama is on the 3F of Lumine shopping mall. You can access the cafe under the roof from Yokohama station, making it worry-free in lousy weather.
Under 24/7 F&B chain stores, the cafe has opened with the will to provide fresh coffee to guests any time of the day. Roasted beans are available to pick from light, medium to dark. Guests can choose from either hand-drip or espresso coffee. The most popular drink and most recommended coffee from their store is their cafe latte.
Besides roast beans, the cafe is particular with its selection of milk. The store insists on the use of milk that is pasteurised at low temperatures. Although pasteurised milk has a shorter expiry date, they believe this makes a good cafe latte cup.
Using this particular type of milk gives the latte a milder texture and smoother consistency than regular.
As a side note, this also means the store does not offer non-dairy milk such as almond milk for making latte or cappuccino.

Besides the wide selection of coffee on the board that caught our eyes, the desserts displayed in a glass standing container are hard to miss. Pound cake and doughnuts are popular desserts. A slice of pound cake is a perfect little sweet to go with a coffee.
Toast

Toasties are also available. The sweet and savoury toast, An and butter (あん&バター), which An stands for azuki beans, is a creamy Japanese traditional sweet red bean paste scooped on top of a Japanese milk bread Shoku-pan.
On the other hand, the butter gives a savoury salty touch which contrasts nicely with the crunchy toast and sweet bean paste. An and butter toast is commonly available in many Japanese chain cafes, but here is one of the places you can try it if you have not had one yet.

A savoury toast option to try is the Shiso and mozzarella toast (大葉とモッツアレラチーズ). As the dish comes to your table, it looks like a regular cheese toast with basil from the first look.
However, you can immediately smell the aroma of the hot melted mozzarella and a light hint of herb coming from the Shiso. Taking a bite, a long cheese pull will follow from the toast.
In addition, the rich milky flavour fills up the mouth, while the scent from the shiso herb with its basil-like and a bit of a mint brings you the new experience of a cheese toast.
