5 Healthy Breakfast Ideas for College Students

Last Updated: Dec 21, 2021 · Author: Anna Ando · This post may contain affiliate links ·

You have heard it said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The statement is especially true when you are a student. You don’t want anything to ruin your day before going for that important class, sitting for an exam, or researching your college essay. It all starts with the first thing you eat in the morning.

It’s understandable that you are short on time, and a can of Diet Coke may do the trick. However, it helps to take your time and consume a healthy meal in the morning. You will thank yourself later. Here are some recipes to get you started.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Box

PB&J has enough proteins per serving, plenty of plant-based unsaturated fat, and fibre to keep you full and help you go through your morning class comfortably. You also get plenty of energy to keep you going for longer than a can of Diet Coke ever will. Here’s how to prepare this simple recipe;

Ingredients

  • Get 1 large egg
  • 1 cup of red grapes
  • 1 oz cheese – sliced cheese, full fat or regular
  • 2 tablespoon peanut butter

Preparation

Hard boil the egg. You can dip the grapes in the PB&J. If you can’t get cheese, you can have an extra egg. You can have single-serving peanut butter packets. Get Almond butter or any other nut or seed butter. You can also replace grapes with any other fresh fruit.

Hard-Boiled Eggs

To make things easier, since you may be short on time, you can have a pot of hard-boiled eggs in your refrigerator for breakfast and a quick snack.

How to prepare

Place the eggs in a saucepan – they shouldn’t be on top of each other. Cover the eggs with cold water – an inch or two high. Add a pinch of salt to the water. Put the pan on the stove and let the water boil over high heat. Lower the heat to medium and simmer for two more minutes. Turn off the stove. Cover the eggs and allow them to sit for about 20 minutes. Take the eggs from the pot, put them in cold water, and cool down. You can replace the water if necessary. Let the eggs dry and put them in the refrigerator. Eat the eggs within 5 days.

Fruit Smoothie

Are you in a hurry and can’t prepare any of the recipes we just looked at? Here is something that you can whip up pretty quickly to get your day started. Fruit smoothies allow you to take in as much fruit as you can. You get plenty of fiber with most fruits, and you can increase energy for that early morning class. Here’s how to prepare a fruit smoothie;

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of frozen or fresh fruit
  • A cup of milk
  • ½ cup of orange juice
  • ½ cup of vanilla yogurt or any of your liking
  • A tablespoon of honey

Preparation

Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Ham and Cheese omelette

Here is another meal that will fuel your body with protein and keep you full for long as you prepare for the day to begin. The preparation may not take a bit longer. If you have a dissertation to finish, it will have to wait. Or you can trust a dissertation service to do it for you. Just choose the best one from dissertation services. Anyway, here’s how to prepare this delicious breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 3 eggs, scrambled lightly
  • ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup of ham – chop them into small cubes

Preparation

Heat the butter until melted in medium to high heat. Put the eggs in the pan and spread them evenly with a cooking paddle or spatula. Before the eggs can be completely firm – a bit runny on the top – sprinkle the cheese and ham over them. Cook until there is no liquid in the eggs. Use your spatula to gently fold the omelette in half and close the ingredients. Put the omelette on your plate and serve.

Waffle Box

Before preparing this breakfast, try to get a whole grain waffle from your store. Get one from the frozen section. Make sure you get a waffle with the correct nutritional value. One waffle should give you about 100 calories.

How to prepare

Make sure you have two large eggs, a waffle, and 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. Hard-boil the eggs first and then toast your waffle. Make an open-faced sandwich with peanut butter and serve. You are good to go.

Conclusion

There you have it, great breakfast ideas to get your day started and give you the best learning time possible. Instead of having to start your day on junk food and ruin your concentration, these healthy recipes will keep you full. Remember, a good day starts with a good breakfast.
