The combination of these two flavours is ideal for serving with chicken. You can use honey sriracha sauce for wings, prawns, or even on roasted potatoes and brussels sprouts. Any type of dish that you would usually use, a chilli condiment, is an option.

You can buy it pre-made from your local store, but the thing is, it can be either too spicy or too sweet. That’s why it’s better to make your own! It is very easy to prepare and requires only five simple ingredients that you may already have at home. Let us show you how!

What is honey sriracha sauce?

Honey Sriracha sauce is made from honey, sriracha, butter, lime juice, and soy sauce. The flavours of these ingredients blend together perfectly to create a sweet dip that you’ll be craving on every dish. If you love the taste of classic sriracha, then you will also love this combination!

Honey sriracha sauce's calorie content amounts to 170 per ½ cup (125 ml) serving, which is decent for this type of sauce.

What does honey sriracha sauce taste like?

The sauce tastes sweet, spicy, and flavourful, making it a perfect addition to your favourite chicken wings. It is spicy, but you can easily adjust the spice level to suit your taste. In addition, the honey balances out the spiciness of the sriracha perfectly, taking it to the next level!

Honey sriracha sauce ingredients

The main ingredients that you’ll need for this recipe are honey, sriracha, butter, lime juice, and soy sauce. The key to this recipe is the sriracha, but we also recommend using good-quality honey, preferably fresh and liquid. Honey tends to crystallize over time, making it taste less sweet as it ages. Hence, using older honey does not work well for this recipe.

You can use salted or unsalted butter. Whatever you have at home is fine. However, we recommend using light soy sauce if you are using salted butter. This way, you can reduce the saltiness of the overall taste.

How to make honey sriracha sauce

The process of making this dip only involves 3 easy steps,

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a pan and set it over medium-high heat.
  2. Bring it to a boil, and stir it occasionally for 1 minute.
  3. Reduce the heat and cook for about 5 to 10 minutes.

As a result, you’ll have a lusciously sweet yet savoury condiment that you can use with different dishes. These include chicken wings, fries, and everything in between. One of the best things about it is that you can use it immediately or store it for later.

Cooking Tips

How do I make my honey sriracha sauce thicker?

If you prefer a thicker consistency, turn the heat down halfway once it’s boiling and let it simmer for about 5 to 10 minutes. However, keep in mind that it will thicken more as it cools. So make sure to adjust the timing accordingly.

Another option is to use a slurry. Combine 1 tablespoon of water and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in a separate bowl. Then, add it to the mixture and whisk until completely combined. If you are looking for a thicker dipping sauce for your snacks, you can also try the Chinese curry sauce.

Can I make honey sriracha sauce with no soy sauce?

Yes. You can use an oyster sauce as a substitute for a honey sriracha sauce no soy sauce recipe. It is thicker and has a deeper flavour profile, which is perfect for this recipe. You can also try making capital sauce instead if you want an ooey-gooey sauce that sticks to your food.

How to make mayo honey sriracha sauce

If you prefer something that is more on the sweet side, then you will like this honey sriracha mayo sauce recipe!

Whisk together sriracha, honey, mayo, and rice vinegar in a small bowl. You can also use lime juice or apple cider instead of rice vinegar. Then, add a sprinkle of salt and pepper to enhance the flavour.

After whisking and mixing, pour it into an airtight container and let it sit in the fridge. This creamy honey sriracha sauce will taste best if it is refrigerated for at least an hour before serving.

How to store

You can store it in an airtight container and keep it in the fridge for up to 10 days. You can also pour a large batch into an ice cube tray and freeze it. This way, it can last for up to 2 months. To use it, put the frozen cubes into the pan and heat it until it’s bubbling.
